Mrs. Penepacker was moving to Florida to live with her favorite niece, Penelope Lemon. Sweet Penelope had insisted, “Aunt Andy, now listen to me. You no longer need to concern yourself with the Apple Farm; you must move to Florida and spend your golden years with me. We will soak up the sunshine walking the sandy beach everyday. Now doesn’t that sound far better than the snow and ice that will cover the Apple Farm so very soon?” Dear sweet Mrs. Penepacker could not agree more with Penelope.
But what to do with the Apple Farm? Mrs. Penepacker had called the Apple Farm up on Harbor Hill her home for long so many years now. She loved each and every tree. The blossoms in spring were so beautiful and their fragrance so sweet. The Apple Farm was a local attraction for the tourists visiting Boo Harbor.
Deep in thought, sipping on a hot cup of apple cinnamon tea, an answer came to Andrea Penepacker. It was clear! She would consult none other than the famous to some Miss Mae Yabutt. Who better to come up with the perfect solution to such a dilemma? Anyone that could tie-dye a Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast would know exactly what to do! Andy reached for the phone.
Miss Mae Yabutt answered on the first ring.
Andrea Penepacker asked the important question, “What do I do with the Apple Farm? I know I could call a real estate agent, maybe Pinky Lee from over in Locke Haven, to sell the farm, but I want someone special to have my Apple Farm, someone that will love the trees as much as I have. And I want to move before snow flies. A sale could take much longer. What to do?”
Mae did not hesitate, she answered, “Andy, you will have a contest."
